{"id":1738,"date":"2010-04-24T20:49:03","date_gmt":"2010-04-25T03:49:03","guid":{"rendered":"\/impressions\/?p=1738"},"modified":"2010-04-24T20:49:03","modified_gmt":"2010-04-25T03:49:03","slug":"spring-around-rockville","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/softblog.com\/impressions\/2010\/04\/24\/spring-around-rockville\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring around Rockville"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is the time now when red cacti bloom in our area:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1739\" title=\"DSCF2504\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2504.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">They are most prolific on the bench or mesa on top of Rockville, a &#8220;secret place&#8221; where Rockvillians go for their walks. And who can say they are not worth visiting and seeing?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1740\" title=\"DSCF2501\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2501.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"384\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">The other positive thing about those trails on top &#8211; they are prepared for mountain bikes and very few bikes ride there. So it is nice to walk in nature by yourself, with no crowds or noises around. This time I walked with a second time guest from Chicago &#8211; Daniel Pyne. And here is what we reached:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1743\" title=\"DSCF2520\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2520.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">It is on the very edge of the mesa over our house, over Rockville, over the winding Virgin river:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1744\" title=\"DSCF2528\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2528.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Up here it is Rockville, down  here it is our house:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1745\" title=\"DSCF2525\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2525.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">And here is our parking lot  &#8211; a closer look  -Andrei is filming me on the top :-):<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1746\" title=\"DSCF2511\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2511.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">This view is from another edge which is on top of Dan McGuire&#8217;s house, our house can&#8217;t be seen here, it is behind the mountain edge on the right. But someone&#8217;s pasture all under water is seen in this picture &#8211; that is how we irrigate:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1749\" title=\"DSCF2506\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2506.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">It was scary to stand on the edge&#8230;Going back we walked through some  rocks where mountain lions may well reside:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1748\" title=\"DSCF2529\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2529.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1750\" title=\"DSCF2531\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2531.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">And also lots of petrified wood pieces, but one piece was especially big, entangled in sandstone:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1751\" title=\"DSCF2536\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2536.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"384\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1752\" title=\"DSCF2537\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2537.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">And this is already my yard with tomatoes and peppers  in pots and boxes &#8211; this spring is so unusually cold, it is still dangerous to plant them in the garden:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1753\" title=\"DSCF2498\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2498.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Tulips and hyacinths bloom so late this year:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1754\" title=\"DSCF2497\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2497.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">And this is how I dress at home and meet my guests :-):<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1755\" title=\"DSCF2494\" src=\"\/impressions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/DSCF2494.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"384\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is the time now when red cacti bloom in our area: They are most prolific on the bench or mesa on top of Rockville, a &#8220;secret place&#8221; where Rockvillians go for their walks.
